Virus raises need for security
In light of the recent computer-virus attacks, businesses
have resorted to heightened security. At Microsoft, no floppy disks,
CD/DVD-ROMs, or memory sticks are allowed on the premises, and any programming
software found on any computer will be removed with a reprimand to the
user. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer says productivity on the new Windows
operating system, slated for 2006, has been severely stalled. Other
companies have resorted to stricter methods, such as strip searches
and disk-sniffing dogs. The Pentagon, in an effort to remove any posibility,
has resorted to body cavity searches in at least two cases. 10327 |
